Join the National Bone Marrow Donor Program
May 18th, 2008, Green Dragon Pub
Dear Friends and Family,
Every year, at least 30,000 adult and children are diagnosed with leukemia, neutropenia, aplastic anemia or other fatal blood diseases. Only 30% of patients in need of a marrow or blood cell transplant find a matched donor in their family. The other 70% may turn to the National Marrow Donor Program to search for an unrelated donor. Genetic matches outside of the family are literally a one in a million chance; when you become a Donor Volunteer, you may become someone's winning lottery ticket, and save a life!
We're throwing a party for the national Marrow Donor Program! This event is part of NMDP's annual donor drive, and we want to sign up as many volunteer donors as we can! Joining the NMDP is easier than you think, just a few forms and a swab of your cheek! Donating is also easier and less painful than all the rumors, if you are a match for a needy person later on!
If you are outside of the Portland area or unable to make the Event, we encourage you to join the NMDP through The NMDP Donor Garden, before May 19th, to take part in the NMDP annual donor drive.
Come out for great bands, great beer and learn about the Bone Marrow donation!
